Reason is that FRS Frequencies that most US makers use are those approved by the FCC. And those frequencies vary from country to country. Maybe checking on the frequency band of what you purchase will better assist you in getting the right radio. Or, just get two or more of the same radio.
All of US consumer radios operate on either the GMRS or FRS channels, and most support both. Below is a table showing the channel number, type of channel, and the frequency.
