View Full Version : What is your playing style?
I have noticed that everyone have their own playing style.
Some players like to charge the opposition force first, exchange fire with them frontally, taking some of them out, and eventually got hit early.
Some players like to find a good spot to hide, and wait for the enemy to come into their reach. These players are usually the last standing in the game.
Some players play in a group of 3/4 players and some others like to wander alone, sometime "flanking too far", spend the game without firing a shot.
I like playing attacking style actually. But I do not know why, in the game either of this happens:
1. I flanked too far away, ending up encounter no one. "Survived" the game without firing a single shot.
2. I hide in a spot, all my team mates get shot, and soon, I find myself circled by opfor.
Next game, I am gonna try to switch to more aggressive style. Playing the way I am playing now is damn boring.
The best game I have played was when we played in BlackShadow field. That was my third game if I remember correctly. I was near the big building and Kelly said, "There are only two of them up there, let's take them out." And we did. Apparently, we moved fast and I had a chance to hide behind the small building. Kelly has to take cover before he reached the building as they were people firing at him. Kelly seemed to draw all the attention from them, that I was able to have a clear shot at the enemy from his left.
What is your playing style? And do you also wish you can play differently? Perhaps you can add some tips for me and others , so that we can play the game better (more fun).

I flank too far, or rush too early and die quickly or spend the game pinned down by enemy fire.
This only happens in woodland games however because I get too antsy to sit in the woods fighting mosquitos and waiting for the enemy to come. I always feel like I am a sitting duck just waiting to get surrounded and killed.
Normally I prefer to have a few folks with me, and welcome cooperation from teammates, but most will not follow me to far off flanks or into the wall of plastic death.
During night games and urban battles I am an entirely different fighter. Stealth is my ally and often I will change firing positions, attack and fade, and use general skirmish tactics and the buildings/shadows to cover my retreats and advances. I find I am best at urban and night games, and usually find teammates incapable of silent movement or the level of stealth I employ. Not that no one out there is as good as me or anything, it's just most of us stealthy guys avoid other people because we assume they are going to give away our positions, thus we normally never discover each other's abilities to let us roll together.
Night and urban games allow for much more stand up fights due to the plethora of cover and concealment, angles and kill zones, and I find myself hardly ever on a knee or my belly.
In woodland games I always seem to be crammed in a bush, squezed under a log, or otherwise practicing being a part of the flora. Woodland games are uncomfortable and generally end with me assaulting a fortified and unknown enemy location, where either my teammate on point or myself on point get lit up before the real fighting can begin, and the assaulting team rarely wins without the aid of a god flank. We need hand grenades.
All in all, I am a good fighter when I know where my enemy is, and I find I have the advantage of situational awareness in urban and night environments, and lack it almost entirely in woodland settings. I liked the Blackshadow field's ruined building because it gives me an anchor in the woodlands to attach to and orient myself with, which helps me keep track of the overall action. The Hell's Angel field had a distinct shape, but still it was difficult to keep a bead on general enemy locations, and thus I spent most of those games either pinned, or in the safe zone reloading.

I don't have the patience to camp or wait for the enemy. I'd rather take the fight to the enemy. This is usually a dangerous tactic and after brief success they figure out what is going on and team up against me. Then again, its only a game and taking on a 240 by yourself is rather fun.
I do prefer to move in small groups. By yourself you can only ever be sure of what is in front of you. Its much better to have a group of 2 or 3 to really ensure that the flanks are clear and to help when you run into a forified postion.
The Hells Angels field is interesting. Better than our little patch of woods, but still woods. I'd rather play in an Urban setting where there are lots of places to hide and ambush. It also makes the game a little more on edge as you never know what is around the next corner.
In woodland games, I prefer to hang back in the beginning to sort out the enemy force. I have trouble noticing where the enemy is sometimes in the woods so having them move instead of me is best. After a bit, I like taking the fight to them with one or two people with me. Unless I'm the last one left, I never go alone. It's just dumb.
Like others have expressed, I like urban games, too. They seem to be quicker. It's much easier to spot people becasue there is no good urban camo. In general, the game has a faster, adreline rush to it for me.

Well I've put alot of thought into this and here is what I came up with.
My old tact use to be: I was always the squad/team leader (my guns my team) I would place myself in the center of the team for command and control. Due to a lack of funds for proper radios normaly I would have a radio and my other team leader would have a radio and if ness my machinegun nest would have a radio.
I would have my mg(machine gunners) tac on to 1 team and entrench at a location of tactial importance hilltop, roadway, avenue of approach, etc.
Then I would use both teams in different formations when the situational requirements called for it. Using over watch, flanking, mass attacks etc. So what I'm getting at is I am use to the offencive style of fighting.
But here in Korea without the support of my old team, my vast arsenal, or a pair of googles that DONT fog up, I have fould that my tactics are the more lay and wait.
For the first part of the game I'm up and more active, such as the game 3-4 wk ago in the school house field where 1st game I flanked and gunned down everyone in my path, shooting 1 guy in the ear (sorry about that my reflex sight has been 0) and taking on 3 others as once. that is the tactical prowess my old team and I was use to. But we'll see now that I do not have to be incharge of a team anymore I might just get a mg and gun down the mass humen waves that cross my sector of fire.
