MadBull Black Python Crawler Barrel
Price $35 from US retailers
Pros
It really reduces your velocity considerable - In line with the website and package claims
Obviates the need to change your spring - Switch the hopup and barrel instead
Current offering is suitable for M4s, G36s, and similar AEGs
Tightbore diameter (6.03mm) reduces loss of accuracy due to velocity reduction
Cons
Only available in one length for now - 300mm
Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF)
The MadBull Black Python Crawler Barrel is a great alternative to changing springs. The price is in line with other tightbore barrels on the market.
The MadBull Black Python Crawler Barrel is an easy drop in solution for those wishing to reduce their AEGs velocity but unwilling to go to the time or expense of opening a gearbox to change a spring. MadBull claims up to a 100fps reduction in velocity with the system. The website I bought the MadBull Black Python Crawler Barrel from indicated a 30 to 100 fps reduction. The barrel works by simply bleeding some of the air that would otherwise propel the bb through a series of vents in the barrel. The vents are fairly large and should not get easily clogged even if not covered by an outer barrel. I tested the barrel on my VFC SCAR-H CQC. The barrel that came with my SCAR-H was a replacement 363mm tightbore and the weapon fired ten times at an average safe velocity. I switched the barrel with the MadBull Black Python Crawler Barrel and the velocity dropped by about 110 fps for its ten rounds. The barrel performed exactly as claimed and allowed me to adjust the velocity in less than ten minutes just by changing the barrel. I bought another SCAR-H hopup which allows for quick changes so breaking down the hopup will make the process take longer.
