They are useful for 'knife kills' certainly beats tapping people on the shoulder. That extra touch is worth the 100 grams of weight.

Are these real bayonets or replicas?

I am not a big fan of the 'touch tag' aspect of the game, although it can sometimes be quite humorous sneaking up behind someone.
