Nexus told me that he wants to buy a new AEG and we looked several websites. He asked me about how good is Akademy (made in Korea if I correct)?

What do you think which brand is best??? how about make a list from 1 to 10??? Well it could be helpful for beginners like me...

Can I go negative for Academy? -100,000,000

If he wants something reliable that he will never have to touch: Marui

Marui guns already shoot within Korean limits, are very reliable, and are high quality. They may be more expensive but they are cheaper in the long run.

JG is a good brand from China but EVERY ONE shoots over the Korean limit. Add 15,000 for a new spring onto the price, you better know how to open the gearbox before buying.

Classic army and all the other Chinese brands all need modification like JG.

I saying exactly same thing to him. Also he was asking about buying from Hong Kong but he was worrying about custom.

how about mtom199 ??? I wonder that it may cause some problems later.

Getting a gun shipped in from China is not a good idea. It will 100% be taken. Mtom is the best way to go for Chinese guns. Buy Marui...

Agree with Chris...

* Academy is... totally useless

* JG and other Chinese guns need mods. If you really want one get it from mtom. They are reliable, if you don't mod them and given that you must to play in Korea its not really worth it

* Marui is expensive but just perfect for Korea and very reliable. Get a marui.

* Shipping from outside of Korea? Works if you are army. For everyone else its impossible.

I had a gun stopped by Korean Customs six years ago when I tried to order from Red Wolf so importing is not a good idea. The SOFA kept me from getting fined.

how about ordering gun parts and gears outside from korea, any regulation on this legal or not? I saw one chinese store that ships thier products with good prices to other countries including korea. http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/

and from ur post I think shipping whole gun is out of question.

Ordering parts is no problem, I have ordered a ton of parts from China and the worst I have gotten was a customs payment on one order. You just have to be careful what you order:

No Scopes
No Guns!
No Receivers or parts that look like a whole gun
No Guns!
No grenades, launchers or claymores
No Guns!

Mags, internals, bags, straps, barrels, batteries etc are all fair game.

I ordered from ehobbyasia earlier this week but I can't get to my mail until Tuesday. I'll tell you how it goes.

On a similar thread.

Where is the best place to acquire Marui AEGs within Korea?

I am officially in Korea now, in-processing to my Brigade, but did not bring any of my many weapons with me in fear of customs.

Until I can get them through customs/sold I will have no weapon and thus need to buy a place holder weapon until I know how things will go down with my other weapons.

I cannot yet read Korean thus I need assistance X_x

~Serran

P.S. I did ship all my other equipment like batteries, vest, uniforms, magazines, etc. etc.

The cheapest way is through the second hand sites. Otherwise it's online on the store sites, much cheaper than in the actual stores. Go to the old ask site ghosts.airsoftkorea.org and click on links. We have listed most of the stores there.

I can order online from mtom, but I don't have memberships for the sites that sell Marui guns. Until this recent crackdown the issue of speed was less importaant than a good cheap price. Thus I never even considered them.

So I was looking through the links provided by the old Ghost website, and found some cheap AEGs on this website.

http://www.uncompany.com/

Are there certain websites that can ship into Korea? Do they have a warehouse in country? What makes these websites good ones to buy from? Are the websites on the old Ghost website all able to ship into Korea? Do they modify the weapons to reduce the FPS? Forgive me, but from what I gather you can buy AEGs here, but not import them, thus my confusion.

Has anyone ordered an AEG from http://www.uncompany.com/ and gotten it in country? I am still on my crusade to recover my AEGs from the states, but if I fail or it takes forever I don't want to miss out on a bunch of games. I still have like 28 days of lockdown and will not be able to leave base, but once that is lifted I will be going to every game I am free for.

If you try to get a replica shipped from UNCompnay or any other HK Chinese or overseas retailer the Korean Customs will stop it and they will fine you unless you are SOFA in which case they will ship it back without fining you. But, you still won't be able to get the replicas shipped to Korea. I ordered things from UNCompany in the past, but I was in the US at the time. They are very reliable and fast.
What heppened with your replicas from the states? Are they just stuck in transit? It takes about two months from the time the packers picked up your belongings before you see them again in Korea.

I was told that it wasn't possible to get them shipped in from the states, otherwise I would just have them sent over ASAP. Of course there others who told me I could get them in and thus I am looking into how to get them over and with whom I can store them.

Problem is I am a single soldier which means I live in the barracks and we cannot have weapons be it paintball or 5.56 in our rooms. So fine, I will have to store them somewhere else, where I do not know as our commander will not allow them to be stored in the Arms Room.

How did you go about getting your replicas from the states Righteous?

I have no reason to buy another weapon if I could get my SAW over here.

Righteous

I foolishly did not bring anything from the States. If I have I would have shipped them with my household goods or unaccompanied baggage. Korean Customs has never gone through anything I shipped in the three times I have been stationed in Korea. I would not recommend mailing replicas even to your APO since a long box will arouse suspicion. To store them in Korean you'd have to have a friend who lives off post and is willing to keep them. Everything I have now I bought in Korea.

Serran
09-04-2009, 07:17 PM
I purposely have not shipped any of my household goods as I was told that was a way to get them in. Thus I have my house hold goods in storage along with the weapons so that they could be combined if I found that was an option.

Either way I intend to talk with the MPs and some ROK customs personnel, as there might be some sort of legal venue. If that gets no where then I will attempt to send them along with my house hold goods. Hopefully SOFA will help me if anything goes down :P

Righteous
09-04-2009, 07:32 PM
There is no need to talk to the ROK Customs personnel. I will go ahead and tell you what they will tell you and that is that you can not import the replicas, regardless of their power, because you do not have the import licenses and you won't be able to get the licenses. Forget the MPs as they have no jurisdiction for this sort of thing off base. I would not bring it up to either group. I tried to get a replica from Red Wolf six years ago and Korean Customs stopped it. They shipped it to my house in California instead and I was not fined because of SOFA. As you are not a Korean citizen with a business, an import license and, most importantly, a bribe don't bother bringing it up. You will only arouse suspicion that none of the rest of us associated with ASK want to deal with. You and I have limited immunity under SOFA. The other foreign nationals on the site have E2 or F2 visas and do not enjoy this immunity. DO NOT bring this up with ROK Customs or the US Army MPs.

Alright then,

I guess I return to my original question... where is the best way to buy AEGs here in Korea if website orders cannot come into country. Is there a physical store anyone recommends?

Buying one from a legal retailer in country and storing it with a friend living off post is the safest way all around.

krobinson103

Buying from a store will just cost more than you really need to spend. Buy online. The old Ghosts site has a list of a number of Korean sites. You will need someone with a Korean ID number to register and buy. If you look at

www.mtom119.com

I can order anything you want from there as long as you send the money to the sites bank account. It can be sent my address and thus onto you at the next convient game. Sorry but I don't have a credit card and my wife is unforgiving with money spent on a promise...

go to 'ASK Information' and then to the bottom where the links section is for more sites. But all of them are in Korean. I don't know ANY site that is in English. You can find some stuff in Itaewon from people that speak English. DongDaeMoon has a bunch of stuff, but most people there speak only Korean.
