I had several AEG's up in Scotland so I figure it would be a good idea to review them and spread the knowledge :)
I'll use the format of a brief description followed by pro's, cons, recommended upgrades and how it handles .
Jing Gong G3SG1
The G3SG1 is basically an accurized G3 used as a DMR. It has a bipod, larger stock and cheek rest.
Stock fps is about 310fps.
Pro's
Long range (60meters ish)
Light (it is mainly made of plastic)
Bipod (if you like that sort of thing)
Comfortable to use
Its HUGE:p
Cheap
Cons
Its HUGE:o
The wiring can come loose (easy fix)
The plastic in the mag well wears down which can lead to feeding issues
You really need a scope or the cheek rest gets in the way
Upgrades
New hop unit
Tight bore barrel
Metal lower body kit
Scope mount (H&K claw)
Electric drum mag of doom (5000 rounds)
On the field
I've found it rather effective to use it in a MG role when using .2bbs firing long range bursts for cover fire. However with .25's it is very accurate and makes a good DMR. It is more of a squad weapon than an individual weapon due to its size and unwieldyness. When used as a support weapon it really comes into its own, just avoid cramped areas or you may get trapped in door frames/ windows/ trees/ shrubbery.
Overall, its ok. More of a project gun for upgrades and more of a theme gun for German army or police tactical units.
It probably gets bonus points because Val Kilmer uses one in the film Heat.
